| Selection Process | Selection is based on two stages:, Written Examination (500 Marks), +, Personality Test/Interview (100 Marks), = Total 600 Marks., Written Examination (Part-I) – 500 Marks:, Paper-I (Code No. 1):, General Medicine and Paediatrics – 250 Marks | 120 Questions (96 from General Medicine + 24 from Paediatrics) | Duration: 2 hours, Paper-II (Code No. 2):, Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Preventive & Social Medicine – 250 Marks | 120 Questions (40 from each part) | Duration: 2 hours, Both papers are completely Objective Type (Multiple Choice Answers). Question papers are in English only., Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) of marks assigned to that question will be deducted for each wrong answer. No penalty for unanswered questions., Personality Test/Interview (Part-II) – 100 Marks:, Candidates qualifying the written examination will be called for Interview/Personality Test conducted by the Commission to assess General Knowledge, academic ability, intellectual curiosity, balance of judgment, integrity of character, initiative and leadership., Tie-Breaking Principle:, If Final Marks are equal: candidate securing more marks in Written Total ranked higher., If still equal: senior in age ranked higher., If Date of Birth also same: candidate whose date of completion of Internship is earlier ranked higher., If tie persists: resolved at the discretion of the Commission., The Commission has discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or both papers of the examination., Successful candidates will be considered for appointment on the basis of order of merit and preferences expressed for various posts., Exam Centres:, 48 centres across India including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bareilly, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Dispur, Faridabad, Gangtok, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Meerut, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji (Goa), Patna, Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Prayagraj (Allahabad), Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam., Allotment of Centres is on "first-apply-first-allot" basis.
